Sketches after research presentation, visualizing the space before creating a model and implementing measurements.
After this initial concept, the response challenged me to think outside of realism, try and go abstract with the spaces required to tell the story!
The first white model! I went too abstract, making the world appear too far from reality. Blocking out the silhouettes of the set really helped the color palette choices for the complete model! With this critism, I kept the hill as the designated take-over area, while changing the tree to better communicate a town schoolhouse.
Alternative abandoned illustration, decided to move forward with the schoolhouse building and cavern.
